Dominant or Alternative Ideology

Dominant or Alternative Ideology

Slumdog Millionaire
Synopsis of Slumdog Millionaire:
A Mumbai teen who grew up in the slums, becomes a contestant on the Indian version of "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" He is arrested under suspicion of cheating, and while being interrogated, events from his life history are shown which explain why he knows the answers.

Alternative Ideology
This film presents alternative ideology because it is about an indian boy who is young and has grown up in the slums however it has a male. This however shows the interestes of the subordinate groups as it is based on a young boy from another ethnic group.

Step Brothers
Synopsis of Step Brothers:
Two aimless middle-aged losers still living at home are forced against their will to become roommates when their parents get married.

Dominant Ideology
This film represents a dominant ideology because it includes males, middle-class, white and middle aged men. This shows some of the most common representations in our culture serve the dominant interests.
