Ms Van Der Sandan- Film Genres

The most popular film genre at present is family films according to this website- http://parks.swank.com/topMovies.html this shows films that were popular for 2010 and what will be quite popular for 2011. Each film shown is a type of film that anyone can watch no matter what age they are. I think these type of films are quite popular because any age group can watch it, any gender and any target audience. By target audience I mean each socio economic group like A,B,C1,C2,D,E. the use of technology is used quite a lot to produce these films because the main genre is animation. This means in order to have characters designers and artists would have to come together to create realistic cartoons. The only way to do this is by using technology.

To get this information i used this website-  http://www.filmsite.org/30sintro.html The most popular film genre that was in the 1930's and the 1940's was what was known as "The Golden Age" during this decade the golden age films were in black and white. However the 1930's used sound and colour revolutions. This then developed into these film genres; Ganster films, musicals, newspaper reporting films, historical biopics, social realism films, lighthearted screwball comedies, counmtry and westerns and horror films. I thinks these genre's were popular because they were shown in colour and had sound this was seen as something new more exciting, these films were mostly views as part of entertainment. Furthermore the most popular genre of film during the 1940's was war films as at that time there was wars, this gave people evidence of what was going on and was used for future references such as today we use it for historical use and to get knowledge of what was going on during these time periods.
